• Optional birth date and time — used solely to compute Five Elements (Wu Xing) cultural notes; not used for any other purpose
• Commercial information such as products or services purchased, or payment confirmation data (payment processing is handled by Stripe — we do not store your card details)
• Internet or electronic network activity related to your use of the Services
• Any messages or feedback you send us directly

Information collected automatically

When you access our Services we may automatically collect information linked to your device and browsing behavior, including IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen size, language preference, local time zone, and pages visited.

Information from third-party sign-in

If you sign in using a third-party provider (e.g., Google), that service may send us certain information — typically your name and email address — in accordance with its own privacy policy and your account settings.

We use the information we collect to provide and improve our Services. Specifically, we may use your information to:

• Generate your Chinese name and provide the requested service
• Create, maintain, and service your account
• Process payments and deliver purchased reports
• Send transactional emails (order confirmation, report delivery, password reset)
• Respond to your inquiries and customer support requests
• Analyze and improve our Services through aggregated, anonymised analytics
• Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud or other misconduct
• Comply with applicable legal obligations

We may also use your contact information to send you newsletters or promotional materials. You may opt out at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us. You will still receive service-related messages for Services you have purchased.

We do not sell your Personal Information to third parties, nor do we disclose it for targeted or cross-context behavioural advertising. We may share information only as follows:

We share information with third-party partners who help us operate and deliver our Services, including payment processing (Stripe), hosting (Vercel), database and authentication (Supabase), and analytics (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity). These parties are permitted to use your information only to provide services to us.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information when required by law, to comply with legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GoChineseName or others.
• Business transfers. If GoChineseName is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We use essential cookies required to operate the site (e.g., session management). We also use analytics cookies — via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — to measure site usage and improve usability. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not prevent you from using the Services.

We have implemented technical and organisational measures to protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of your Personal Information. However, no website or internet transmission can guarantee absolute security. We cannot warrant the security of any information transmitted to us.

Storage

Your information is stored on servers maintained by our infrastructure providers (Supabase, Vercel). If you are located outside the country where our servers operate, be aware that your information will be transferred to and governed by the applicable laws of that jurisdiction.

Retention

We retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as required by law. Name generation inputs are used during your session to produce results and are not retained beyond what is needed to deliver and improve the service. Purchased report data is retained for a reasonable period to allow retrieval. You may request deletion at any time.

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us with the subject line “Delete My Account” and including the email address linked to your account. We will follow up to process your request.

Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If you believe we have received information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Our Services may link to third-party websites or applications beyond our control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. We encourage you to review their applicable privacy policies. This Privacy Policy applies only to our Services.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of the Personal Information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
